Your motorcycle chain transfers power from the engine to the rear wheel, so keeping it clean and properly lubricated is essential.
For normal road riding, clean and lubricate the chain every 500–700 kilometres. You should also inspect it after riding in rain, mud, dust, or on rough roads.
A dry or dirty chain can cause:
- Unusual noise while riding
- Rough acceleration
- Faster sprocket wear
- Rust and stiff chain links
- Reduced chain life
Use a motorcycle-specific chain cleaner and a soft brush to remove dirt. After cleaning, allow the chain to dry before applying chain lubricant evenly to the inner side of the chain.
Avoid applying too much lubricant, as excess product can attract dust and spread onto the wheel.
Regular chain maintenance provides smoother performance, improves safety, and helps prevent expensive chain and sprocket replacements.
